Children's Activities

Sunday School: 9:15 AM, Sunday mornings, Sept-May: Our Children’s Sunday School classes are for PreK to Grade 7, meeting upstairs at 9:15am on Sunday mornings from September through May. The Preschool/Kindergarten Class is taught by Sarah Lowe. We also have a Grade 1-3 class and a Grade 4-7 class, taught by volunteers from the congregation, and a Confirmation Class for older children. If you have any questions about classes, activities, teachers, or curriculum, please contact the Church Office.

Children’s Message (during 10:30 Worship Service): At a special time during the service, children are invited to come forward for a story or activity just for them, explaining the day’s message on their level.

Children’s Church: Children ages 4 years through grade 3 are invited out of the Sanctuary after the Children’s sermon for stories, games and activities. Children’s Church meets each Sunday morning except the first Sunday of the month. Although your child may already be attending Sunday School, Children’s Church offers children an opportunity to learn more about God and our church in a casual, fun setting. Some of the lessons we have talked about have been “Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet,” “Road to Emmaus,” and “Jesus Appears To Disciples” (Dig-In Curriculum). At Christmas, we have several Christmas-themed crafts, games and activities. Volunteers to assist in aspects of Children’s Church are always welcomed and needed! 6th and 7th graders may be helpers for Children’s Church.

M&M (Mini-Marvels): Age 4 to Grade 2 / KFC (Kids For Christ): Grades 3-6 : Our groups meet often, together and separately, to enjoy fun activities organized by our Children & Family Ministry Coordinator with parent volunteers. Family, friends, and grandparents are always welcome to come along and enjoy the fun! Be sure to check out the Calendar, Newsletter, Facebook, and weekly bulletins to keep up with all our activities!

Bible Presentations: Each year, as the children are entering 4th grade, they receive their very own Bibles.

Sunday School Choir/Bell Choir: A few times a year, including a Christmas Program, our Sunday School children are invited to perform during the 10:30 worship service.

Bell Ringing: Each week, one child gets to put on the special gloves and ring the big bell! Church can’t start until someone rings the big bell! Who will it be next week? Maybe it will be you! Contact the Head Usher to be a Bell Ringer.

Vacation Bible School: Vacation Bible School: St. John’s UCC offers VBS on Sundays in August.
